There was not much hype about oil and gas in 2012 when we started our investment in the establishment of a modern concrete products manufacturing facility. Our focus then was uplifting the standard of concrete products so that the end quality will be superior to what was obtainable then. The construction sector was swamped with very poor quality blocks and pavers, of a similarly very poor quality, was being imported into Guyana.
At KSM Investments Inc, a Guyanese-owned company, we knew we had to do something to alleviate the imposed hardships on homebuilders and others suffering at the hands of poor quality.
In less than three years, spending hundreds
of millions of dollars, we were able to convert a large plot of swamplands along the east Demerara corridor, at Good Hope Public Road, into the largest and most modern concrete products manufacturing facility in Guyana.
In less that 2 years of commercial production, we were successful in establishing products that exceed international standards and quality. And, this did not go unnoticed.
In 2017, we were pleasantly surprised to have received, locally, the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) ‘Gold Award For Quality’ and, regionally, the Caribbean Export Development Agency/ Caribbean Association of Investment Promotion Agency (CEDA/CAIPA) ‘Local Investor of the Year Award.’
In 2019, our company was again recognized for the quality of concrete products. This time, by the Guyana Manufacturers and Services Association (GMSA), which saw us continuously “Raising the Bar on Concrete Products’, and duly awarded us.
We knew then, as we know now, that we are a company that embodies quality in everything we do. In fact, that has always been our mission and that is the path we set ourselves. In our business, quality, value-for-money and customer satisfaction take precedence over everything else.
With the rapid entry of the Oil and Gas
sector into the Guyanese economy, the paradigm on quality in the construction sector has shifted even more. To-day, more and more companies are recognizing the relevance of companies like ours that have been raising the bar on quality. We are extremely proud that most of the completed modern buildings in Guyana have used our products, and many of those are that currently being constructed are engaged with our products. Our private residential customers are now in the thousands, all across Guyana, touching the 10 administrative regions.
Additionally, our EverLast STONE Pavers are being used widely in the modernization of our infrastructure
Our RockSolid STONE Hollow Blocks and EverLAST STONE Pavers have both exceeded the expectations of many, and are proudly manufactured in a Guyanese-owned and operated state-of-the art facility, which many previously believed was unachievable.
Indeed, for many years we have been led into believing that foreign imports are always superior to locally-produced goods and services.
